John joined the MSA as a student member in 1960 and became a Chartered Architect in 1971. Secretary of MSA for two years until 2009 AGM.
One of the founder members of the STMSA and past Chairman. Married to Tess, a librarian at Manchester University with two grown up, well sort of, children; Louise 27 a pharmacologist living in Newcastle and doing a PhD at Durham, and Martin 24, who is still at home and is training to be a stuntman/marshal arts actor. In private practise for 12 years then Senior Lecturer at Stockport College of F & HE, working there for 21 years followed by another 12 years in architectural practise. Diploma of Associateship of Manchester Polytechnic, Master of Design at Liverpool University. Experience of domestic, large scale public housing and apartments, ecclesiastical, educational, commercial, health sector, industrial and leisure work. Retired and therefore working even harder for CAMRA, church and other voluntary work. Played senior rugby for around 12 years and refereed throughout the North West with Manchester Rugby Union Referees Society.
